What type of events do you cater for?

We cater for a variety of events including small scale weddings (buffet style), winery/brewing party, local festivals, private parties, and more. Events that are too large may be refused depending on the content and number of people.

How far in advance should I book your catering services?

We recommend booking at least 4 weeks in advance to ensure availability and proper preparations for your event.

Is your catering business a food truck?

No, we do it in a pop-up canopy tent (10x10ft). This tent has passed the Fire Code NFPA 102.

Is Yatai Japanese Food catering a restaurant?

No, we do not have a restaurant.

Do you require a minimum number of guests? Is there a maximum number you can handle?

For larger events, our minimum is 20 people. (*Varies depending on event) (**We have more flexibility in our off-season, typically November - March). Depending on how the food is served, we do not hold a maximum.

For private seated course meals, the minimum is 8 people and the maximum is 15 people.

Where is the cooking done?

The cooking is done onsite. We bring everything needed to set-up our own "kitchen" so we can prepare, cook and serve everything at your event.

For private in-house events, we may ask to use your kitchen if available.

How is the meal served?

We serve family-style (small platters or shareable platters) or buffet-styles. We also offer pre-plated service and bento box-style service. Please inquire for more details.

What type of events do you cater?

We do everything from the most casual gatherings to high-end weddings and winery/brewery (corporate) events.

How far do you travel for events?

We based out of Sonoma County and serve the Bay Area! Please note a travel fee will be added depending on the event location.

What staff do you provide?

Our quote includes the preparation, cooking, and serving done by the two of us. We handle everything together to provide the best intimate and personable experience possible.

Can you provide additional staff to help me at my event?

We do not provide extra staff. Please make your own arrangements for extra needs such as set-up, service, bartending, bussing tables, breaking everything down at the end of the night, etc.

How much space do you need?

That depends on the size of your event. We need a minimum of 12' x 12' to set up our 'kitchen' for our pop-up tent. Depending on the menu, we will need an electrical outlet or two near the 'kitchen'.

Can you accommodate vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary preferences?
